The number of containers transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has risen dramatically, department chief at the Baku International Trade Sea Port Khudayar Hasanli said.

Report quotes him as saying the railway transported 307 containers in 2017, the year of its inauguration, while in 11 months of this year, this figure reached 20,526.

The BTK railway was inaugurated on October 30, 2017, ensuring the railway connection between Asia and Europe. It is the shortest way between the three countries and between Asia and Europe. Freight supply via this railroad helps halve the time spent on transportation. The BTK railroad facilitates the access of Central Asian countries - Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan to Europe and other markets.
