Azerbaijan has implemented projects worth $142 million in collaboration with the UN in recent years, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli said, Report informs.
He made the remark during the event themed “High-Level Strategic Prioritization” held within the UN-Azerbaijan Cooperation Framework Document on Sustainable Development (2026-2030).
According to Bashirli, sustainable development is one of the key priorities for Azerbaijan's state policy: "Our country has adopted the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and incorporated them into state strategies. Over 50 state programs and strategies have been aligned with the SDGs, and the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development has been established."
Azerbaijan has already submitted its 4th Voluntary National Review to the UN High-Level Forum. Our country is making strategic efforts to build an economic model based on green energy, the digital economy, and innovation. Concepts such as 'Smart City,' 'Smart Village,' and 'Green Energy Zone' are being implemented in the liberated territories. Azerbaijan's initiative to recognize landmine safety as the 18th SDG is a clear example of our policy aimed at sustainable development."
He further noted that the current Framework Document for 2021-2025 covers four main priorities: inclusive growth, strong institutions, environmental protection, and gender equality.
