Main strategic direction for Karabakh's dev't in next 10 years revealed

Ensuring a clean environment in the territories freed from occupation is one of Azerbaijan's main strategic directions in the next ten years, the Deputy Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Azerbaijan Rauf Hajiyev said at the presentation of the 'Azerbaijan Towards Green Development' report held jointly by the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry and the World Bank, Report informs.

Hajiyev noted that the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation created new opportunities:

"The liberated districts have a huge potential for the application of green energy, green agriculture and technologies. The application of modern approaches during the restoration of these areas will lead to the transformation of Karabakh into a green zone free from environmental problems in the future."

The deputy minister noted that investments in the development of the economy with green technologies are increasing yearly in Azerbaijan.

"The development of areas requiring large investments is also justified in terms of environmental protection and human health protection. During the transition to a green economy, we need to act more responsibly and strengthen international cooperation in matters such as saving resources, reusing raw materials, applying environmentally friendly technologies in the industry."
