Khudayar Hasanli: Infrastructure potential along Middle Corridor should be aligned

The potential of all transport infrastructure along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) should be aligned with each other, said Khudayar Hasanli, department head of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, Report informs.

He made the remark in the panel discussion themed “Middle Corridor: perspectives and challenges" held within the framework of the Translogistica Caspian exhibition in Baku.

According to him, even if the capacity of Baku Port is increased, but the potential of other infrastructures is low, it will not have any effect:

"Due to the current geopolitical situation, there was an increase in the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor. At this time, several problems appeared. We had problems with the timely transportation of cargo and coordination. However, serious work was done in this direction.

The problems I listed have been eliminated, and as a result, the reception and departure of block trains from China has been successfully carried out since the beginning of the year."

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) is a vital international transport corridor that spans across China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and onward to Türkiye and European countries.

In 2023, more than 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported on this route, which is 86% more than in 2022. The prospective plan for 2024 is about 4 million tons.
