Against the background of sanctions against Russia, the Kazakh government has developed alternative cargo export and transit routes, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Kairbek Uskenbayev, said at a government meeting.

“We have developed alternative routes and corridors for export and transit cargo. The ministry has taken operative measures to prevent breaks in the supply chains of goods,” he added.

According to him, export cargo will be sent to Latvian ports and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

“An agreement has been reached with Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey to establish a joint venture. It is also planned to create a container hub on the basis of the Aktau Seaport Free Economic Zone to develop cargo transportation through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route,” the minister said.
