The agreement on international combined cargo transportation between the governments of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was ratified at the plenary session of the Kazakh Mazhilis (lower house of the parliament) today, Report informs via Kazakh media.
"The agreement is aimed at simplifying international cargo transportation using various means of transport, as well as developing trade and economic relations among the members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS)," Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said while presenting the document to the MPs.
According to him, the ratification of this document creates a basis for further increasing the volume of transit cargo transportation through the territory of Kazakhstan, which will have a positive impact on the development of the country's transport and transit potential.
The minister emphasized that a joint committee on transportation development will be established among the OTS members to implement the agreement.
As the Transport Minister of Kazakhstan stated, the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and OTS member states stood at nearly 40 million tons in 2023, which is 15% more than in 2022.
