Cargo transportation through TRACECA’s Azerbaijan section declines

In January 2019, 4.069 million tonnes of cargo were transported through Azerbaijan section of the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA), down 124,000 tonnes or 3% from previous year, Report informs citing State Statistical Committee (SSC).

Cargo turnover in the reporting period made up 828 million tonnes-km, down 55 million tonnes-km or 6.3% in comparison to a year ago.

2.685 million tonnes or 66% of cargo were transported via motor transport, 958,000 tonnes or 23.5% via railway, 426,000 or 10.5% via marine transport.

Moreover, 14.5% or 591,000 of cargos made up transit cargos, which are 198,000 tonnes of 25.1% less than previous year.
