In January-June of this year, 4.9 billion cubic meters of water were withdrawn from water sources in Azerbaijan, of which 3.6 billion cubic meters were supplied to agricultural fields, Azerbaijan Reclamation and Water Management OJSC told Report.

Thus, 1.3 billion cubic meters or 26.5% of the water was lost.

“During the reporting period, 17.58 million cubic meters of sludge was removed from irrigation systems and collector-drainage networks as part of the measures taken against water loss. At the same time, 4.17 million cubic meters of sewage treatment and regulation, as well as 2,924 cubic meters of earthwork for raising and strengthening dams, were carried out in the river basins.

As a result of the melioration measures carried out within 6 months, 1.3 thousand hectares of newly irrigated land were added to the crop rotation, and the melioration condition of 800 hectares of land was improved,” the company said.
