Japanese automobile corporation Subaru has decided to reduce production at one of its plants in the country and a facility in the US state of Indiana, due to a shortage of semiconductors, Report mentions, Kyodo news.

Due to a global shortage of semiconductors, Japan's largest automotive corporation, Toyota Motor, began to reduce production at its plant in Texas, Honda Motor and Nissan Motor cut production of cars at enterprises in the Japanese prefectures Mie and Kanagawa, respectively.

Honda Motor is also looking at cutting production at its plants in Canada, China, and the United States.

The shortage of semiconductors, according to NHK, is due to the sharply increased demand for these products in connection with the transfer of mobile communications in many countries to fifth-generation systems. In the context of the pandemic and the expansion of work on remote circuits, personal computers and game consoles have also increased, requiring additional volumes of semiconductors.
