Baku. 19 September. REPORT.AZ/ Scotsman Mark Beaumont has broken the world record for cycling around the world in 79 days.

Report informs citing the BBC, he has made the finish in Arc de Triomphe, Paris on September 18.

"It was the longest two and a half months in my life, the most exhaustible trial that I put my body and my brain to. Every day in itself was a test of my physical and mental endurance", the TASS reported.

On a round-the-world trip, the 34-year-old Beaumont set off on July 2 from Paris. During this time, the cyclist overcame about 29 thousand km on the territory of 16 countries. On average, he traveled 370 km a day. He has broken the world record for cycling around the world by 44 days. 

The Scotsman said that his trip was inspired by Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne.
