Sanctions imposed on 6 Azerbaijani taekwondo athletes over doping use

Baku. 31 October. REPORT.AZ/ Sanctions imposed on six Azerbaijani athletes for using doping, Report informs citing the official website of the Azerbaijani National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA). They are Javid Huseynov, Samir Maharramov, Yunis Mammadzade, Shams Isayeva, Nargiz Mirzayeva and Ofeliya Allahverdiyeva. All of them were disqualified for 12 months. the presence of banned substance or its metabolites detected in their bodies.

Furosemide has been found in athletes' blood samples. The penalties for all taekwondo fighters with furosemide substance found in their blood came into force on April 4, April 20, April 25, April 19 and March 19, 2018 respectively. All taekwondo players were members of Azerbaijan's youth national teams.

Notably, previously 25 Azerbaijani athletes were disciplined by AMADA for failing doping test.
