Force India team's principal: I can’t remember a Grand Prix creating such a buzz as race in Baku

Baku. 3 July. REPORT.AZ/ “I can’t remember a Grand Prix creating such a buzz and so many talking points as the race we saw in Baku. We certainly played our part in a dramatic race".

Report informs, Formula 1 Grand Prix team Force India principal Vijay Mallya has stated told the team's official website.

Reproaching contact between Force India drivers Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon V.Mallya said that he hopes they have learned some valuable lessons: "Since Baku we’ve had some conversations internally and reminded our drivers that the team must always come first. It’s never acceptable for teammates to make contact with each other and it certainly cost us points in Baku. However, the events of Azerbaijan won’t change our approach. Our drivers can race freely and I’m sure they have learned some valuable lessons. We’ve given them a competitive car and I know they are mature enough to work together for the good of the team".

Notably, Esteban Ocon finished the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 6th. Sergio Perez stopped the fight early.

The pair collided behind the safety car when Vettel lost part of his front wing after crashing into the back of leader Hamilton at low speed. The German pulled up alongside his championship rival to complain and appeared to steer into him, a move that earned him a 10-second stop-go penalty. But the Brit felt the penalty was too lenient and called the Ferrari "a disgrace" for the move. Daniel Ricciardo finished first after starting 10th on the grid and falling behind to 17th place with brake issues early in the race. Lance Stroll somehow managed to blast ahead into second but was bested by a final-second surge from Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas, overtaking the 18-year-old and taking second. Despite having second place snatched out of his hands, Stroll was awarded driver of the day and was praised by his race team.
