Azerbaijani world champion comments on news about brawl at nightclub

Baku. 17 July. REPORT.AZ/ World boxing champion Elvin Mammishzade commented on news about his brawl at nightclub. 

Report informs, it was confirmed that he had a quarrel at "26 land" club near "Sahil" metro station in Baku.

But he claimed that he did not beat anybody:"I didn’t spend much time at the nightclub. I just went there to say something to a girl there. Our conversation turned into a quarrel. However, there was no fight”.

Mammishzade did not want to talk about the reasons of the dispute.

The titled boxer also clarified talks that he allegedly does not follow sports regime and commits administrative violations: "For a while I had an injury. Therefore, I did not take part in 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku. I have not managed to return the previous form so I could not show the result at the European Championships. I did not manage to reach the 1/4 finals and therefore I will not be able to participate in the World Championship. My goal is the Summer Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo”. Elizbrus Rzayev, the personal trainer of Mamishzade, also said that the issue is being blown up. Along with this, he did not hide displeasure with the behavior of the athlete: “Elvin does not drink alcohol. I do not know if he loves hookah, or not. Everyone is responsible for himself. He was told that this is prohibited”.

Notably, Elvin Mehmishzade, in weight category of 52 kg, became the gold medalist of the First European Games held in Baku in 2015 and the World Cup organized in Qatar.

At the European championships, he won gold (2010) and bronze (2013) medals
