Azerbaijan Boxing Federation files complaint against referee arbitrariness at World Championship

Baku. 28 August. REPORT.AZ/ The Azerbaijan Boxing Federation (ABF) has filed an official complaint regarding the defeat of member of the national team Lorenzo Sotomayor at the World Championship in Germany’s Hamburg city as a result of the referee’s unfair decision.

Report informs, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Umar Kremlev told the TASS.

He said that the referees of the fight between Russian Peter Khomukov and Columbian Jorje Vivas Palasios must be suspended from the World Championship due to their mistakes. Umar Kremlev noted that they had filed a complaint in regard to Peter Khomukov’s defeat: “We have filed a complaint and demanded the suspension of the referees. We should not leave it like this; this is absolute arbitrariness. Azerbaijan also has a complaint regarding referees.”

Notably, even though Lorenzo Sotomayor competing at 64 kg category was ahead of Egyptian Eslam Muhammad in 1/8 fight, the referees gave the victory to his opponent. As a result, the Azerbaijani boxer had to say goodbye to the World Championship.
