Sabail District Executive Power comments on some news over Bayil landslide

Baku. 29 January. REPORT.AZ/ The Sabail District Executive Power has commented on news amid the works done in Bayil landslide zone and state of studies.

Report informs referring to the Sabail District Executive Power, in the past few days, various media outlets have posted some news on landslide danger in Bayil slope, Sabail district, its causes opposing each other, which doesn't reflect reality and linked the landslide with construction, etc. on the slope.

It was stated that inspections carried out by specialists identified 103 houses in the area of risk of sliding: "It has been established that 89.9% of the houses were built until 2000, including 25% in 60-70s of the past century. Over past 3 years, additions were made only to 4 existing buildings and materials on each fact have been submitted to law enforcement agencies which are under investigation.

With the exception of several houses, private houses on the slope were built by low-income people and internally displaced persons overnight, one-storey illegal buildings with no solid foundation. Such buildings almost have no impact on land sliding.

According to preliminary opinion by the foreign experts involved in sliding studies, the processes in the area are not external, but initial part of the active phase as internal tectonic processes. A package of proposals will be developed and submitted to the state bodies to avoid deepening of the process".

At present, study in the area by the Sabail District Executive Power staff office nears completion, results of the inspections will be legally assessed and information will be provided to the public. Future of the buildings in the area will be resolved in the legal framework".
