Border guards open fire to stop drug smugglers

Employees of the State Border Service (SBS) prevented smuggling of narcotic substances through the state border, Report informs citing the press service of SBS.

Thus, the border troops of the Lankaran Border Guard Service noticed 2 unknown persons moving near the service area of frontier post at the village of Sim, Astara region towards Azerbaijan from Iran.

The trespassers did not obey the command “stop” given by frontier troops and as a result the latter fired shots into the air. The smugglers dropped their bags and fled.

The area was immediately closed and search activities were held. A luggage bag and a bag with 15 kg 815 grams of drugs and a night vision device were found as a result.

Necessary operational and investigative measures are underway on the fact.
