Azerbaijan's mine clearing agency sums up results of the year

Baku. 3 January. REPORT.AZ/ ANAMA has released a report on operations of clearing areas from mines and unexploded ordnance in 2018.

Report informs that last year the Agency inspected 45,492,690 square meters (4,549.27 ha) of lands in Absheron, Agjabadi, Agdam, Agstafa, Astara, Barda, Beylaqan, Bilasuvar, Jabrayil, Jallabad, Dashkasan, Fuzuli, Goranboy, Goygol, Ismayilli, Lankaran, Masalli, Naftalan, Garadag, Gakh, Gazakh, Salyan, Shamkir, Tartar, Tovuz, Ujar, Khachmaz, Khizi, Khojavand, Yevlakh, Zagatala districts and Baku, Ganja and Sumgayit, and revealed and neutralized 11,743 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 29 anti-personnel and 17 antitank mines (totally 11,789).

Since its inception the Agency has cleared an area of 532,169,188 square meters (53,216.92 ha) and found and neutralized 801,155 mines and unexploded ordnance.

2 mine explosion incidents with 3 civilians receiving bodily injuries were recorded in Tartar and Gadabay districts in 2018.
