Azerbaijan plans to implement the international standard of digital radio broadcasting, DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus), across 70% of its territory, Elman Hasanov, the acting general director of the Teleradio Production Association, said, according to Report.
He noted that DAB+ technologies are already being used in over 55 countries worldwide, primarily in Europe, Australia, and some parts of Asia and Africa. This cutting-edge technology allows for the transmission of 12-18 FM (frequency modulation) channels on a single frequency.
To kickstart this digital transformation, 3-kilowatt DAB+ transmitters will be installed on the Baku TV Tower and the Gulistan station in the Aghsu district by the end of the year.
In the subsequent years, plans are in place to install DAB+ transmitters at an additional 10 stations throughout the republic. This strategic expansion will enable digital radio broadcasting to reach 70% of the country's territory.
