WHO regional director: COVID vaccination coverage in Azerbaijan impressive

COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Azerbaijan is impressive. Azerbaijan has successfully met this challenge, but there is still a need to remain vigilant, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge told journalists, Report informs.

The WHO regional director noted that he was very glad to visit Baku. Kluge emphasized the initiatives of Azerbaijan within the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement regarding the fight against the pandemic: “Azerbaijan took the initiative within the NAM and stated the importance of ensuring equal access to the vaccine for all countries.”

“We see how the number of COVID-19 infections has decreased in Azerbaijan, and we are also pleased with the vaccination coverage in the country. Azerbaijan has coped very well with this, but we still need to remain vigilant. Especially in autumn, as this is a sensitive period for the elderly and for people immunocompromised,” Kluge said.
