WHO: Hope for the best, prepare for the worst

Report informs Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe said, during an online briefing with journalists. "22 percent of the population lives with at least one concomitant disease that puts them at risk for coronavirus infection. Also, the flu season will begin in the fall. In 2018-19, about 150 thousand people lost their lives. Vaccination of people against influenza will reduce the risk of infection to doctors and those prone to getting the flu, "he said.

H. Kluge noted that those infected with coronavirus should not be discriminated against.

"General quarantine and ensuring social distance allowed us to win time. We must take advantage of this to raise the level of preparedness and provide proper medical care. We need to hope for the best but prepare for the worst - for the second wave of COVID-19. The results will depend on what measures we take now. "
