Medicine, studied by Azerbaijani scientists, authorized for use in COVID-19 treatment  

After scientific studies proved the effectiveness of Remdesivir medicine in the treatment of coronavirus patients, relevant bodies in Europe authorized its use. The drug has already been used in the cure of COVID-19 patients. 

Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Radiology and Neuroradiology Society, doctor of medical sciences at the University of Cologne Nuran Abdullayev told Report that the research conducted by leading health experts, including scientists from the University, showed that the drug mitigates the symptoms of the disease and even reduce the recovery time to 11 days.

According to him, the drug prevents the virus from multiplying in the body, directly impacting the overall clinical situation.

“At present, many patients in Europe do not even need artificial respiration after taking this medicine.”

The doctor of medical sciences considers it expedient to use Remdesivir to treat coronavirus patients in Azerbaijan as the side effects of the drug, such as liver and kidney function changes, have already been studied. 

It is noteworthy that Nuran Abdullayev and a working group of the University presented the results of a comprehensive scientific analysis on the use of Remdesivir in the treatment of coronavirus patients in April.
