The number of confirmed coronavirus infection cases has topped 125.78 million globally, as more than 612,000 people tested positive for the pathogen in one day.

Report informs, citing the World Health Organization data, that the number of deaths has risen by more than 10,500 people.

As of today, the World Health Organization received data about 125,781,957 cases of infection and 2,759,432 deaths. The number of those infected has increased by 612,369 people, and the number of fatalities has grown by 10,590.

Over 41% of infection cases, reported to the World Health Organization in the past 24 hours, were in Europe (255,773). North and South Americas are second with 222,213 cases, and South-Eastern Asia comes third with 71,708 new coronavirus patients.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about the outbreak of unknown pneumonia. On January 30, 2020, the WHO declared it a public health emergency of international concern.
