Tahir Rzayev: Yekaterinburg events deal serious blow to Azerbaijan-Russia relations

The killing of two Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, the groundless detention of several people, and the false accusations against them are unacceptable and promise no positive outcome for the future, Azerbaijani MP Tahir Rzayev told Report.

According to him, these events deal a serious blow to Azerbaijan-Russia relations. The MP believes that what is regrettable is the neutral position of the Russian leadership on these issues:

"Despite being aware of the events, no measures are being taken against these provocations and the activities of chauvinist circles. This gives grounds to conclude that all these processes are centrally managed and carried out in a coordinated manner at a high level. However, the era of such policies is over."

He emphasized that the Russian leadership should seriously reflect on this issue:

"Because important documents and agreements have been signed between Russia and Azerbaijan. These documents should serve to expand cooperation between the two countries, improve relations, and develop cultural ties. However, Russia is carrying out dirty deeds and plans contrary to these documents and pursuing chauvinist goals. Undoubtedly, such provocations and illegal actions will not go unpunished. Russian law enforcement agencies will sooner or later have to answer before the law for the crimes they have committed."
