PACE member states can apply a single rule on ombudsman institution

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution on the activities of ombudsmen. French bureau of Report informs that, according to the document, human rights ombudsmen in the member countries are acting in accordance with their own rules.

For this reason, PACE calls on all countries to develop and apply general rules on ombudsman activities.

The resolution urges member states to support, expand and keep the activities of ombudsmen in focus.
