OTS member states commence negotiations for establishment of Council of Railway Authorities

The first online meeting of experts to discuss the establishment of the Council of Railway Authorities took place on February 1, 2024, with the participation of representatives from Railway Administrations and other authorities of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the OTS said in a statement, Report informs.

Highlighting that the development of land routes, especially rail transportation, has become a top priority for OTS member countries, the experts emphasized the significance of the initiative to establish the Council of Railway Authorities, proposed by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during the Astana Summit.

At the meeting, participants engaged in discussions on the draft concept of the Council and exchanged insights on the main tasks and functions of the proposed mechanism, aimed at reshaping regional connectivity and advancing rail transportation through collaborative efforts within the OTS space.
