Nurmammad Javadov: Azerbaijanis who participated in BAM construction always felt support of Heydar Aliyev

The Azerbaijanis who participated in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) have always felt the support of Heydar Aliyev, Nurmammad Javadov, who took part in the construction as commander of a Komsomol detachment, told journalists in Moscow after a joint meeting between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with veterans and workers of the railway industry on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, Report informs.

“I was the commander of a Komsomol detachment from Azerbaijan. In March 1975, we arrived by helicopter in the village of Ulkan. Being unaccustomed to the cold, it was difficult for us in the first year. Heydar Aliyev came to us to study the progress of work and inspected the villages that we were building. We always felt that Azerbaijan was with us, that Heydar Aliyev was with us,” Javadov noted.
