NATO PA President: We seek to establish peace in South Caucasus

Tbilisi. 26 May. REPORT.AZ/ “The spring session of NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) will discuss number of key issues, including conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ukraine, Moldova and other regions. Territorial integrity of states will also be in focus”.

Georgia bureau of Report informs, speaker of Georgian parliament Irakli Kobakhidze told at the press conference on NATO PA spring session, kicks off today in Tbilisi.

He noted that the integration into Euro-Atlantic structure is one of priorities of his country’s foreign policy: “Organization of NATO PA spring session in Tbilisi will create an additional impetus for these processes”.

NATO PA President Paolo Alli noted the importance of issues that will be discussed at the session, and brought to the attention that the document to be adopted and recommendations are important for all countries. The head of the organization told that the global processes and current conflicts seriously concern everybody: "We seek to establish peace all over the world, as well as in the South Caucasus." Then he answered questions related to Georgia’s membership, threats in the region, struggle against cybercrimes.

Notably, NATO PA spring session will be held in Tbilisi from May 26 to 29. A group of parliamentarians headed by the first deputy chairman of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Ziyafet Asgarov also participates in the session.
