Mammadov: Armenia passed off fake accounts inciting hatred on social networks as Azerbaijani ones

Armenia created fake accounts on social networks that allegedly belonged to Azerbaijani users. Hate speech was broadcast through them, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov said during the first round of oral arguments of the Azerbaijani side within the hearings on the case on the application of ICERD (Azerbaijan v. Armenia) at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Report informs.

In 2021, Twitter identified more than 30 accounts associated with the Armenian government that either spread hate speech against Azerbaijanis or were fake, allegedly belonging to Azerbaijani users and expressing hatred towards Armenians, he noted.

Mammadov added that the official representative of Armenia stated during the hearing that Azerbaijan was not able to provide any video evidence of Armenia’s racial crimes.

This, again, is a clear lie. Contrary to the statement of the Armenian representative, no less than 17 videos alone were attached to the Azerbaijani claim, demonstrating horrific atrocities committed against Azerbaijanis. Therefore, Azerbaijan’s claim against Armenia clearly falls within the jurisdiction of the convention on the merits, he said.
