"I welcome the fact that the long-running confrontation between Azerbaijan and Armenia ended a year ago," President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said during a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.
He stressed the importance of starting a peace-building process for the benefit of both sides.
The president of Belarus noted that the restoration of transport communications and economic activities in the South Caucasus should be the basis of lasting peace in the region, ensuring the welfare and security of all peoples living there.
Lukashenko offered his condolences to the families and friends of all the victims of the long-running Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting the exceptional importance of the Russian-brokered statement that ended the bloodshed a year ago.
