A number of countries, including Azerbaijan, are showing interest in obtaining observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting of the Council of SCO Foreign Ministers in Tashkent, the Russian bureau of Report informs.
“There are still a number of contenders for observer status, for the status of dialogue partners. Several Arab countries, Azerbaijan, and a number of Asian countries are showing such interest. Consultations at the level of foreign ministries will continue before the summit. I am convinced that we will be able to report relevant recommendations to the heads of states,” Lavrov said.
