IRENA Director-General: Main task that lie ahead of COP29 is to adapt to reality

The main task that lies ahead of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Baku is to adapt to reality, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Francesco La Camera, said at the 4th panel discussion of the 11th Global Baku Forum on "Fixing the Fractured World," Report informs.

He said that the commitments should be adapted to the realities: "COP29 is a very good platform. As I said, we should behave in accordance with reality. I look forward to the results that will be achieved."

According to Francesco La Camera, one of the main issues is the creation of infrastructure: "It especially applies to African countries. Only after having the right infrastructure, we can take appropriate steps regarding renewable energy."
