"We condemn the 296th resolution adopted by the US House of Representatives on the so-called Armenian genocide, and we consider it biased and unjust," head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev said.

According to Report, Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized that the resolution has no political, legal and historical ground and was adopted as a result of the efforts of Armenian lobby groups:

"What happened at that time should be investigated by historians, not politicians.

"Armenia and Armenian lobbying circles have turned the so-called Armenian genocide into an object of political speculation. They aim to conceal the crimes committed by Armenians in the South Caucasus and in other regions. Therefore, Armenia does not accept Turkey's proposal on the investigation of the events of this period by the Joint Historical Commission.

"Attempts to falsify, 'rewrite history' and use it for political pressure are unacceptable,” Hajiyev said.
