François Hollande: France remains open and honest partner for Azerbaijan

Baku. 15 March. REPORT.AZ/ “France will remain for Azerbaijan an open and honest partner, looking for increasing exchanges, especially those in human rights field, cooperating for the sake of secure and stable future in the region.”

Report informs, French President François Hollande said in dinner party hosted by him for the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva in Paris.

F. Hollande told that the history of ties between peoples of Azerbaijan and France is much older than 25-years of diplomatic relations: “Our countries came closer first of all thanks to trading relations. We can trace first signs of these ties back to historical Silk Ways passing through Azerbaijan in 9th and 10th centuries. French travelers started to pass this way in 13rd century.

You have such a big goal as diversifying cooperation ties and strengthening your sovereignty. Keeping this in view, we support perspective agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union. I am happy that respective negotiations started one month ago in Brussel with your participation”.
