Expert: Yerevan tries to hinder rapprochement between Moscow and Baku
Report

Baku. 16 October. REPORT.AZ/ Russia views Azerbaijan as a reliable partner and ally, including in the issue of combating terrorism, Russian political analyst Yevgeny Mikhailov said.

Report informs that Mikhailov was speaking at a roundtable in Baku devoted to the fight against terrorism in the region and the interaction of Russia and Azerbaijan in this direction.

"Russia today is actively fighting cross-border crime and corruption, including in the Caucasus region. I want to note that Russia and Azerbaijan have dramatically increased their interaction in the field of politics and economics, as well as in the field of security in the region”, E. Mikhailov said.

In his opinion, today external forces are trying to rock the situation in the North Caucasus, pointing, in particular, to the territorial problem of Chechnya and Ingushetia.

"Some players do not want Russia to come to terms and get closer to Turkey and Azerbaijan, so they are shaking up the situation in the North Caucasus so that instability spreads to the entire region.

But today, Russian law enforcement agencies have strengthened their positions in the North Caucasus, they are keeping the situation under control, "the political analyst emphasized.

He also pointed to Armenia as a country that is not interested in and tries to resist rapprochement between Moscow and Baku.

"Armenia and its interests have always been betrayed by its political figures, as a result of which the Armenian people suffered. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan today demonstrates its ability to reach out and speak in diplomatic language, something we haven’t seen in Armenia lately,” he added.

According to Mikhailov, Russia and Azerbaijan today should maintain closer strategic alliance.

"Russia views Azerbaijan as a reliable partner and ally, including in the issue of combating terrorism," the Russian expert stressed.
