Armenia continues to plant new mines on the territory of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The statement was made at a briefing organized on September 18 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan with the participation of Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, Presidential Representative for Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev.

It was noted that since August last year in 2021, 2,728 mines produced in Armenia in 2021 were discovered and neutralized. Of these, 1,119 were found in the border area, in the Kalbajar and Lachin districts, and 1,609 in the Karabakh economic region. The Russian peacekeeping contingent, as well as the leaders of the joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center, including military representatives of foreign countries, visited the territory where these landmines were demonstrated.

It was emphasized that one of the reasons for the creation of the Lachin border checkpoint was the prevention of illegal military activities and smuggling.
