Azerbaijani ambassador to Ukraine awarded Diplomat of Year title

Azerbaijani Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova has been awarded the Diplomat of the Year (2021) title, Report informs.

Ambassador Elmira Akhundova won the Celebrity Awards 2021 for her diligent work and contribution to Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations.

Her nomination was supported by several NGOs, including Kyiv Diplomacy journal.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Elmira Akhundova said that this award is also an appreciation of the Azerbaijani state and the selfless and tireless activity of its President Ilham Aliyev: "As you know, last year was successful for Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army liberated our occupied territories. During the 44-day war, the Ukrainian state and media gave great support to Azerbaijan's just struggle."

Diplomats from Argentina and Indonesia in Ukraine also won the Diplomat of the Year award.
