Azerbaijan will work on Convention on Conflicts of Non-Aligned Movement countries

Baku. 5 April. REPORT.AZ/ The chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement passed to Azerbaijan. The next summit of the organization will be held in Baku.

Report informs, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov said at today's Non-Aligned Movement Mid-Term Ministerial Conference in Baku.

"We believe that today's meeting will be the next step for building peace and stability in the world. The topics of regional and subregional security, human rights are very important. This opportunity is to exchange views on the issues that confront our organization”, Azerbaijani foreign minister said.

"It is very important when organization respects the principles of territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs. We need to avoid double standards”, he added. 

According to the Azerbaijani foreign minister, it is necessary to ensure full respect for and observance of international law, as well as to increase the effectiveness of the work of the UN General Assembly for solving world problems: "We proposed reforms that called for a more effective work of UN.The problems and conflicts that arise in different parts of the world affect not only the countries themselves, but also their neighbors”. 

Mammadyarov stated that within the framework of his chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement Azerbaijan will work on the Convention on Conflicts of Non-Aligned Movement member countries.

"The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict hinders the development of the region. Azerbaijan calls on the international community and the UN to support and ensure the implementation of resolutions on the Karabakh conflict," Mammadyarov said, stressing that the status quo is unacceptable.
