Azerbaijan, Turkey set to expand cooperation in social sector

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population with a visiting delegation led by the Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev said that the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, based on brotherhood and unshakable unity of the peoples, are at the level of strategic partnership, Report informs.

He stressed the special role of joint and consistent efforts of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the stable and long-term development of bilateral relations.

Underscoring the expansion of the relations between the two countries in the labor, employment, and social protection sectors, the minister recalled that five documents on cooperation had been signed for this purpose and two more draft cooperation documents on cooperation in the employment and social protection sphere were being discussed.

Emphasizing the social reforms carried out in Turkey and the social achievements, Vedat Bilgin said the ministry was determined to expand cooperation with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

The meeting also discussed future cooperation in the labor, employment, social protection spheres, as well as social protection of martyrs' families and veterans and providing them with support, the DOST concept, the disability assessment, and medical and social rehabilitation, application of innovative novelties in the social sphere. Expansion of the legal framework of cooperation, organization of the next meeting of the Joint Standing Committee on Cooperation in the field of labor and social protection, and other issues were also discussed.

After the meeting, Sahil Babayev and Vedat Bilgin held a briefing on the results of the meeting.
