“Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with the EU within the framework of the Eastern partnership on an equal footing,” Chairman of the Board of the Center for International Relations Analysis Farid Shafiyev said .

Report informs that he spoke at a round table held at the Center for International Relations Analysis on EU-Azerbaijan relations.

"Azerbaijan does not claim membership in the EU, but we are interested in strengthening cooperation on an equal footing," Shafiyev said.

According to him, such countries-participants of Eastern partnership as Ukraine, Georgia seek membership. However, Azerbaijan is interested in integration, but not in membership.

"We are aimed at cooperation with the EU within the framework of bilateral cooperation in a number of areas, including economic field," Shafiyev added.
