Orkhan Mammadov: Holding World and European championships is among main goals

Holding the World and European mini-football championships in Azerbaijan is among the main goals, Orkhan Mammadov, honorary president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, said at the drawing ceremony of the International Minifootball tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Report informs.

The head of the federation said that negotiations are underway in this direction: “We believe that the organizers, taking into account the experience of hosting international sports competitions and the tourism potential of our country, will welcome this request and entrust us with the right to host prestigious tournaments.”

Recalling that 2023 was declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev by President Ilham Aliyev, the honorary president of the Zira club emphasized that various events and conferences were held in this regard: “The Minifootball Federation also decided to hold an international tournament on this occasion. We negotiated this with several federations and finally, we achieved it. Although it is a friendly tournament, considering its purpose and importance, we expect victory from our players. Also, this tournament will be preparatory for future international competitions.”
