Baku. 9 May. REPORT.AZ/ Fyodor Gusev, who played for Neftchi, was among the participating players of the Great Patriotic War.

Report informs, it is stated in a report prepared by EuroFootball.Ru. It is said that Fyodor Ivanovich Gusev, who was born in 1915, played as right wing midfielder. He first played in Spartak Saratov and Dynamo (now Sokol) football teams. Then Gusev wore the uniform of "Dinamo" hockey team and participated in cycling and skiing competitions.

In 1939, the athlete moved to Stalingrad (now Volgograd) and started to play for local "Dynamo". During the war, he worked at "Red October" plant. He took part in the defense of Stalingrad. Gusev was able to pull off two barges of motor boats which were full of soldiers by tying rope to the barge in water under the enemy bullets.

After the war, the footballer played for "Neftchi" in 1946-1947, including “Tractor” Saratov (now "Rotor-Volgograd"). The name of Gusev, the captain of the team, was shown as Huseynov in the game protocols and newspaper articles of that period.

The footballer who finished his career in 1948, died on January 17, 1984.
