“Karabakh” clarifies why they don’t place championship stars and sponsor logo on jerseys

Baku. 24 October. REPORT.AZ/ The reason why championship stars and logo of general sponsor of Azerbaijan Premier League Topaz isn’t placed on jerseys of “Karabakh” football club, was clarified. Club’s general manager Asif Asgarov told Report, there were no articles demanding this in Professional Football League’s Charter.

“In foreign countries it is necessary to incorporate stars in logo. Every federation adopts appropriate rules and clubs follow them. But there isn’t any legal necessity for us. In fact, this is a good experience. One can easily say number of titles won by the club counting stars on jersey. Of course, if such rule is adopted we will follow”, A.Asgarov said.

Club’s spokesman also explained why Topaz logo is covered on jerseys: “Sponsor didn’t fulfil its responsibilities previous year. The same is happening this year. Last year sponsor’s representative participated in Clubs Committee meeting. We discussed the issue. There is no result so far.”

Head of public relations department of Professional Football League (PFL), the organizer of national football championship Aslan Shahgaldiyev demonstrated different approach in his statement to Report. He told it is up to clubs to place stars on club logos or not.

A.Shahgaldiyev expressed different opinion about sponsor’s logo: “Topaz has no obligation to pay money to clubs. This wasn’t envisaged in the agreement. The issue must be discussed with all parties. Topaz simply sponsors Professional Football League, Premier League. It is not such a big amount as to distribute among clubs”.
