Baku. 20 September. REPORT.AZ/ “’Regulation of ‘transfer window’ of world football requires constructive decisions”.

Report informs, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said at the 13th Extraordinary UEFA Congress in Geneva, Switzerland.

He said FIFA, UEFA, leagues and clubs are responsible for making the transfer system work properly. 

FIFA President stressed that the payments made to agents during the transfer is increased. “We observe drastic increase of expenses during the summer ‘window’ reaching 1 billion EUR. This is not a negative factor. It is the matter of distribution by a greater extent. At the same time, we saw that the payments to agents grow, but compensation for homegrown football players keep falling. The regulation of transfer window requires constructive decision.”

The Congress also elected Alexey Sorokin (“Russia-2018' Organizing Committee director general and the member of the Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union) by acclamation as a new European member of the FIFA Council for a term of office lasting until 2021.

UEFA’s member associations ratified two representatives of the European Club Association (ECA) to sit on the UEFA Executive Committee as full members for a four-year term of office: Andrea Agnelli (Juventus FC/Italy) and Ivan Gazidis (Arsenal FC/England).

According to another decision, European Professional Football Leagues Association will be represented at the Executive Committee of UEFA with one candidate. Relevant change on this issue was made to the charter. First time it will obeyed at UEFA Congress in Bratislava, Slovakia on February, 26, 2018.

It was decided that the next meeting of Extraordinary UEFA Congress will take place in Rome, Italy on February 7, 2019.
