Visa blocks several Russian banks from its payment network

Visa Inc has followed Mastercard Inc in blocking multiple Russian financial institutions from their network.

"Mastercard and Visa blocked access to the payment system for several Russian banks. Previously, the President of Ukraine turned to Mastercard and Visa with a request to block payment systems in Russia. This means that the cards will only work in Russia. Not abroad and in foreign online stores ", Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov wrote.

Mastercard is also working with partners to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
