Turkish Central Bank leading in gold purchases in Q3 2022

In the third quarter of 2022, global central banks bought a record 399.3 tons of gold, which is 115% more than in the second quarter of this year. At the same time, the Central Banks of Turkiye, Uzbekistan and Qatar became the largest buyers of gold, Report informs referring to the World Gold Council.
The central bank purchases at 399.3 tons for the quarter was the largest in the last 22 years. At the same time, the previous record, which was set in the third quarter of 2018, turned out to be almost twice as low as the current one, that is, it amounted to 241 tons.
Since the beginning of 2022, the volume of gold purchases amounted to 673.01 tons, which is higher than all similar indicators since 1967.
