The annual inflation in Switzerland has reached its peak of 2.5% for the first time since 2008, according to the country's federal statistical authority.

Report informs, citing foreign media, that in April 2022, the country's consumer price index rose by 0.4% from the previous month, reaching 103.3. The inflation made +2.5% compared to the same month of the last year.

The agency links the April price hike to several factors, including increase in prices on heating fuel.

The inflation is driven up by prices on imported products that gained 6.6% compared to the previous year. This is while prices on domestic production grew 1.2%.

Prices on new cars and air transportation also surged, while the cost of staying in hotels has decreased.
