Stagnation of Russian economy to continue for two more years

Baku. 25 August. REPORT.AZ/ Serious economic growth will not be observed in Russia in the next 2 years. Report informs citing Gazeta.Ru, according to the forecast of analysts, who have taken part in the International Discussion Club “Valday”, the upcomg Presidential Elections to be held in 2018 will not have any impact on this. They consider that the Russian economy will demonstrate weak growth in 2017-2019.

Without new impulses, the GDP will grow maximum by 2% a year in 2018 and 2019, while this year, the GDP growth will make even less – 1,4 – 1,5%. No breakthrough should be expected from the Russian economy due to the weak investment activity, experts claim.

More likely, the situation will be under the influence of such trends as in 2017, and the GDP growth will make about 1-2% a year, says chief economist of the Alpha Bank Natalya Orlova. Nevertheless, experts are unanimous in the opinion that this year, there are few chances that the optimistic forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development predicting the two-percent growth of the Russian economy. More likely, it will make just 1,4%, they reckon.

Such a pessimistic forecast is confirmed by the recent statistics. The External Economic Bank reported on August 24 in the monthly evaluation of the Russian GDP about the stagnation of the GDP growth in July compared to June by 0,6. The economic growth showed stagnation to 2% versus 2,7% in June and 3,1 in May. Overall, the GDP growth made 1,6% in January-July.
