Azerbaijani, Turkish banks associations mull prospects for partnership in banking sector

The partnership between the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA) and the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) has been discussed, Report informs, citing ABA.

Zakir Nuriyev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan Banks Association, has met Alpaslan Cakar, Chairman of the Presidium of the Turkish Banks Association. During the meeting, the prospects for the partnership between the associations and the role of banks in the development of the regional economy were discussed. Expressing his congratulations on Azerbaijan's Independence Day on October 18, Cakar voiced readiness to provide all possible support for the further development of cooperation between the banking sectors of the two countries.

Besides, Cakar thanked the Azerbaijan Banks Association for donating tree seedlings to restore forests damaged by fires in Turkey during the summer months.

ABA member organizations (26 banks and five non-bank credit institutions) donated a total of 102,846 tree seedlings ($122,000) to the Turkish Forestry Development and Forest Fire Fighting Services Support Foundation through the Turkish Banks Association to restore Turkey's fire-damaged forest fund and eliminate the consequences of the fire.

Zakir Nuriyev noted the successful cooperation between the Azerbaijan Banks Association and the Banks Association of Turkey and invited Alpaslan Cakar to visit Baku.
