UAE may support operation of new solar and wind power plants in Azerbaijan

The Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) can provide support for the operation of new solar and wind power plants in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The issue was brought up for discussion at a meeting of the head of the board of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) Samir Akhundov with Chief Executive Officer of TAQA’s Transmission and Distribution Omar Al Hashmi and Director of Network Development and Investments of TAQA Gabriele Manduzio in Baku.

During the meeting, the parties shared their perspectives on a number of issues provided for in the “Law on Electric Power”, which came into effect in Azerbaijan on January 1, 2024. Additionally, they discussed TAQA’s potential assistance to our country regarding the operation of new solar and wind power plants. Information was also provided about the Black Sea submarine cable project connecting Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.
