SOCAR Trading changes CEO

Natig Mustafayev has been appointed the new CEO of SOCAR Trading, a trading subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Report informs referring to the company's statement.
The appointment took effect on April 7. In this position, Mustafayev replaced Mariam Almaszada, who headed SOCAR Trading since 2018.
"SOCAR Trading is excited to bring Mustafayev's global expertise to bear as it advances its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. In a dynamic energy landscape, the company remains dedicated to delivering reliable and efficient solutions for its clients and counterparties worldwide," the company said.
Mustafayev has served as the company's Chief Commercial Strategy Officer since September 2024. With nearly two decades of experience in global financial markets and investment strategies in sovereign credit, he brings deep expertise in emerging markets, international trade and managing risk to the role. His career spans both the private and public sectors, including senior positions at the Securities Commission of Azerbaijan and as Commercial Analyst at BP Azerbaijan.
Prior to joining SOCAR, Mustafayev held senior roles at Credit Suisse Securities in London and since 2014 at Barings in London and Boston serving as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for Emerging Markets Debt portfolios, with $15 billion AUM at the peak.

SOCAR Trading SA, based in Geneva, was founded in December 2007.
